FROG-7 – Step 3a

Today (actually yesterday) I am continuing the build of Trumpeter 01025 — 9P113 TEL w/9M21 Rocket of 9K52 Luna-M Short-range artillery.

From here on, unless stated otherwise or completely obvious, all abbreviations are written in Cyrillic in the original text.

One of my most hated steps when building Soviet wheeled vehicles. Still, it is not the one I hate most — Step 4 will beat even this one, I promise!

Anyway — this is Step 3:

Instructions — Step 3

During the long weekend I had a little time to work on this model as well. Unfortunately, I had quite an internal struggle — I wanted to build it, but I also knew what was waiting for me, so I kept finding excuses to postpone it.

Finally Nadya took the kids out for a walk, with the arrangement that while they were out I would set up the lights, cameras, and microphones and get on with the build, so they would not get in my way and I would not get in theirs.

Yes, but just as I finished setting up the lighting, it turned out that Nadya was feeling unwell and they were coming home. We agreed that I would wait for them, let them have lunch, drink some water, and generally use the kitchen as a kitchen, and only then would I start.

And that is what we did. Well — I did some building and almost met my minimum target. I did not even finish the whole logically separate first half of the step (the upper half of the instruction page) — one of the two mirrored assemblies! I still had D36+B77 and B75+B76 left to assemble, but perhaps it worked out better this way. I will be more careful in the second part!

Overall, this step was hard going. I am not happy with myself. After about 1 hour and 5 minutes I got this far:

And in real time, the build looked like this:

On Thursday or Friday — more, and hopefully better…
